The West Virginia Water Research Institute

About the West Virginia Water Research Institute – For more than 40 years, the West Virginia Water Research Institute  (WVWRI) has served as a statewide vehicle for performing research related to water issues.  The Institute is the premiere water research center in West Virginia, and within selected fields, an international leader.

About Water Resource Institutes or Centers – Under Federal legislation,Water Resources Research Institutes, or Centers, have been established in each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam.

WVWRI develops state water research priorities with the oversight and guidance of the West Virginia Advisory Committee for Water Research, represented by members of state and federal agencies, academia, industry, and the public. Our programs and projects develop strong, multi-disciplinary research teams through collaboration with various WVU colleges and divisions, other higher education institutions, private firms, and consultants. This team approach brings the best expertise available to address water issues.

In February of 2012, the QUEST project was awarded a Regional IMPACT Award by the National Institute for Water Resources as one of the best research, education and outreach projects in the nation.
