Launch the Tool

Three Rivers QUEST (3RQ) has developed a new 3RQ Mapping Tool to compile environmental spatial data from government agencies, 3RQ and its member organizations, NGOs, and more-- all in one convenient place with the goal of studying environmental datasets across state lines within the Upper Ohio River Basin. Data layers are owned and maintained by the data sources (see below) and are updated automatically in the tool, where possible. The tool includes layers in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, and national datasets organized into the following categories:

  • Water Resources – water quality data, watershed boundaries, hydrography, gauge stations, algal blooms, etc.
  • Resource Extraction – mining, oil and gas wells, discharge points, permit boundaries, etc.
  • Remediation – mining and brownfield reclamation sites, pollution control, hazardous waste treatment, etc.
  • Biological Resources – aquatic and terrestrial vegetation, algal blooms, habitat ranges, land use/cover, biological processes, etc.
  • Infrastructure – dams, waste management, air pollution generating facilities, power plants, water and sewer lines, etc.

Before you go, check out this quick start video to get the most out of the tool!

We're All Ears

This map is in its Beta version; we are accepting feedback and suggestions on additional layers to add. You may also contact rachel.spirnak@mail.wvu.edu if you're interested in discussing the tool.
